Sun Pizza is a student-owned and student-run Pizzeria in the heart of Lancaster. It was started by two third-year University students, Adam & Dec, with a passion and background in Italian restaurants.  Sticking with traditional ingredients, the dough is fermented for 72 hours before serving to ensure a perfectly airy and tasty product. The cheese is 100% mozzarella, and the tomato sauce is just like an Italian Grandma’s; simple yet deliciously authentic. Excellent pizza, delicious cocktail, good vibes and fast but friendly service – what more could you want! The only issue was picking out which main to order – all of them sounded amazing. In the end I had to go with the Weronika pizza as it had (almost) my name on it. The cocktail is an Amaretto Sour, I believe.
Honestly the best pizza I’ve tried so far in Lancaster! 🍕They had the vegan cheese option which was amazing, and a great selection of cocktails – highly recommending the amaretto sour🍸 Overall a lovely hidden restaurant with delicious food and cosy atmosphere.
Excellent pizza, lovely staff. Meat feast was a winner. Box was well in insulated so pizza stayed hot while we wandered around Lancaster trying to get back to the hotel.

What We Offer:

My name is Chris and in 2020 I opened Aquila in the city of Lancaster. My goal is recreating the real authentic pizza found in Naples, out of a casual space with a relaxed atmosphere. Before starting Aquila I spent time in Naples learning techniques and the importance of proper dough as well as how to handle a wood-fired oven. The core ingredients at Aquila are imported from Italy to ensure authenticity and quality of flavour. The fresh ingredients are mainly supplied from a local supplier in Lancashire.

SPECIALITY:

Penne pasta in Pomodoro sauce, hot mixed peppers, courgettes & mushrooms, black olives and mozzarella.

If you want authentic non American style pizza this place should be at the top of your list. Everything I have ordered has been fantastic.
We were looking for authentic pizza and we sure got it! This place is a hidden gem using high quality ingredients… san marizano tomatoes, caputo 00 flour, credit to the chefs as cooked to perfection. Best pizza in UK so far. Divine and hit the spot. Friendly staff too which just adds to the experience. Will be sure to visit again when travelling up North again! Thanks.
Best pizza in town. I had pizza anchovy. They use fresh anchovies, not tinned, which have a different flavour because they are not as salty. All other ingredients are top quality. Pizzas cook very quickly in a wood oven, so you aren’t hanging around.
