A freshly ground coffee and a fine selection of hot and cold food prepared to order. The Courtyard Café is run by St John’s Hospice Catering Limited. All profits raised by the Café go back to support the specialised care at St John’s Hospice. The doors of St John’s Hospice first opened on 5th January 1986, and they have remained open for every single second since. But it isn’t just here in Lancaster where we help patients with life-shortening illnesses and their families, we help a community of over 250,000 people all over North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire, providing vital care, both here at the hospice, and in people’s homes.

The food and cakes are gorgeous… The volunteers and staff do such a great job. Highly recommend the ham, egg and chips.
Was welcomed by friendly volunteers when we arrived at the Courtyard Café. Enjoyed a very good quiche and salad with my daughter in lovely surroundings.
It is a lovely relaxing place to go to for a brew and something to eat and the staff members are friendly and helpful I recommend it if you just want a brew.

We often go for lunch here and have a pasty, very nice it is too. This time we decided to go for afternoon tea. It was really good, everything was freshly baked and there was plenty for two people. All finished off with a huge pot of tea. Stuffed and very satisfied.
Outstanding! Polite and responsive staff, delicious food and calm atmosphere. My order consisted of an avocado and salmon bagel and an Americano. I have not tasted better coffee in Lancaster.
First visit, and what a find, this lovely little cafe is clean welcoming and value for money, which is always a bonus. We had breakfasts and everything was cooked to perfection on every element. The staff were very attentive, polite and helpful. Would I come again absolutely, would I recommend a visit you bet.
