If you are on this website you will already be reading about the benefits of Kumon. My daughters’ Maths and English has progressively improved since starting the programme. I now completely understand what they know and don’t know which paid dividends when schools closed. Throughout the closure, Kumon has kept us on track. Diane and her team had to adjust quickly and have worked flexibly to support families. I am really pleased the centre has been able to open in a covid-secure manner (for now!) and am confident that we can get through any future lockdown.
Our two children, age 9 and 6 years old, started the English and Maths programmes at Diane’s Kumon Lancaster South tuition centre 8 months ago. The progress they have made is brilliant. Kumon has helped develop my children’s skills for independent learning and improve their concentration

My 10-year old, who used to be 2 years behind, loves Kumon and has now developed strong English and Math skills. She has completed the primary and secondary school curriculum which has set her apart, way above her peers in primary school, and is able to assist them with class work.

I contacted Abi because my daughter has dyslexia and so was finding some of the Maths difficult to understand. We were concerned that she would not get the necessary grades to pass her GCSE. Abi helped by tailoring the sessions to fit my daughter’s needs and helped her to understand the topics that she was struggling with at school.
Over the first lock-down my daughter was struggling a bit with her A level maths work, particularly the statistics part. I asked a friend of mine if she could recommend a maths tutor and she recommended Abi. I had a chat with Abi on the phone and I told her a bit about my daughter and what she needed, and then they arranged weekly sessions on Zoom.
Abi was recommended by a family friend as I wanted to get help for my two sons with their maths learning. They both enjoyed the sessions and I saw a big improvement in their motivation, confidence and understanding of the subject. I’m sure Abi’s lessons will help them get the grades they need for college and university but more importantly Abi helped them see maths positively.

I explored other options outside the world of teaching but couldn’t quite let it go. A friend of mine, a local tutor, asked me to take on one of her pupils while she took a break. It didn’t take long for me to realise that being a tutor was an exciting, challenging and rewarding role in which I could really help people. I’ve always enjoyed working with children and young people in one way or another and I spent many years trying to find the perfect job. Now, I think I’ve cracked it. I gained my PGCE in Primary Education in 2012 and went on to teach in a charming rural school in North Lancashire. Teaching was fantastic, but being a full time classroom teacher wasn’t quite the right fit for me.

Jen is a brilliant tutor. Her calm and positive approach not only gave our daughter the confidence to pass her 11+ exam but also gave her a really fantastic learning experience. Jen’s creative activities provided our daughter with skills that she will use right into Secondary school and that really enhanced her time in years 5 and 6. We are all very grateful to Jen for her enthusiasm, care and support, thank you Jen.
I can highly recommend Jen – she has tutored both of my daughters for the 11 plus and has honestly been the best teacher they have ever had. She adapted the tutoring to their very different learning styles and needs and really helped them both come on leaps and bounds in their maths and English particularly. More importantly though they loved the lessons and looked forward to them each week, coming out beaming with smiles.
Can’t recommend Jen highly enough, she was absolutely brilliant and I felt my daughter was in safe hands each week.
